View of the Florence

We were walking all day around Florence, and by the end of the day by chance entered this observation point. The fact that this is the best point for taking photos of Florence was confirmed  by the presence of many photographers with tripods. And I was one of them! I was very lucky with the weather conditions – very cute little clouds completed the panoramic view of Florence. On this image you can see almost all the major attractions of Florence. I am very satisfied with this shot and consider it one of the best works of mine.

On this photo you can see:
– At the centre of the photo you can see the Duomo (Florence’s most famous Cathedral).
– Slightly to the left there is a tower of the castle Palazzo Vecchio.
– Along the left side of the river the very first bridge is Ponte Vecchio.

Amazing Fact:

Standard Italian language that the entire country uses to this day comes from the Florentine dialect.

The Colosseum from the inside

Many people know how Colosseum looks like from the outside but not everyone knows what it looks like inside. It has a very complicated structure!Colosseum is kind of great-grandfather of modern stadiums. Everything is very thought out here – there are sectors, an elaborate system of entrance and the numbering of rows and seats. Almost the same what we have now at our stadiums. But only 2,000 years earlier…

On this photo you can see the complex structures that are located underneath the scene. They allowed to do special effects during the performance: the sudden appearance of animals and new characters, change of scenery.

To go to the Colosseum for the ancient people was the same as for the modern to see the action movie – but there were real people and animals dying because of absence of cinema.  Interests of people for the past thousands years hasn’t really changed.

Amazing Fact:

It is estimated that the shows that were held in the Colosseum for hundreds of years have taken the lives of about 500,000 people and over a million of wild animals. It must be the most bloody place on the Earth.

Lobby of Hotel Atlantis The Palm

This is the hall of Hotel Atlantis The Palm in Dubai, the UAE. Its extraordinary  indoor architectural style extremely surprised me. I’ve never seen anything like this before. Despite the amazing architecture of the hotel lobby, in reality it makes you feel like you are at the overcrowded railway station because of large number of people. I had to wait long for the moment to make this shot. People constantly kept walking around. And it is not surprising, as this hotel has about 1600 rooms.

On the other hand it allowed us to get lost in the crowd and easily get to the zone HOTEL GUESTS ONLY  🙂 and to the hotel’s beach also, even though we weren’t hotel guests.

Amazing Fact:

During the Opening of Hotel Atlantis The Palm,  about 100 000 fireworks were used (seven times more that were fired during the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics 2008) and this thrilling to watch show lasted for 15 minutes! Also beautiful light show of moving images was illuminated onto the hotel. You can watch the video from the opening here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nt-Klc30Nsw
